Did you know that Liza worked for the Department of Health and Human Service (the welfare office) for over 20 years? She has a wealth of knowledge about Montgomery County, Maryland Programs that may be able to assist you financially throughout your cancer treatment.

Since 1998, Proyecto Salud Clinic- has provided medical services to the low-income, uninsured adults at its Wheaton and Olney, Maryland Location.
This is a partnership with Montgomery General Hospital and the support of the Department of Human and Health Services and Primary Care Coalition.
This partnership has helped uninsured adults of Montgomery County find a medical home that provide access to adequate primary care services which includes Mammograms and Breast Diagnostic testing.
The Proyecto Salud-Wheaton /Olney locations provides low cost preventive care, lab services, and referrals to specialty care.
Do you need a Mammogram? And you have insurance?
If so you will need a referral for the Mammogram from your Primary Medical Doctor/Primary Care Physician or Gynecologist-this will insure that your test results get sent to the correct medical person for your test results and follow up.
You can call Community Radiology in Olney, Maryland located at the Montgomery General Hospital Campus and they can schedule you an appointment this week for Breast Screening Mammogram and or a Breast Diagnostic Ultra Sound.

(2) RAP- Rental Assistance Program
This program assists with your monthly rent; its only a 12 month program and it is based on your income.
Call the Rental Assistance Program at 240-777-4400 to have an application mailed to you. Applications are generally processed within four weeks.
(3) MEAP- Maryland Utility Assistance Program
Montgomery County Home Energy Program
This program assists with your main source of heat and this program is based on your household income.

This program assists with Food on a monthly bases to folks who live in Montgomery County, Maryland. These food donations are given out on a monthly bases.
Resources for Non-Maryland Residents
While Liza’s Lids Charity is Montgomery County, Maryland specific, we do post articles and tips that could be helpful to families in all regions.
Please keep in mind, Liza’s Lids is a new non-profit and supported by only a handful of volunteers. At this point in time, we are not able to extend our services to outside surrounding Counties and States.
However, we do believe in our mission, and we are growing every day. When it becomes possible for us to expand our service area, we will be ready and willing to spread our wings and help as many women suffering from cancer as we can.
